Four Willow & Blade bats on a black background

Four colours. Every bat its own.

Every Willow & Blade bat is pressed and shaped by hand from English willow, so no two faces are ever the same. That's why we photograph and list each bat on its own.

The sticker colour is chosen at random and says nothing about the grade. What you're paying for is the willow underneath.

How willow is graded

Every Willow & Blade bat is made in India from authentic English willow. The willow is grown in England, cut into clefts and shipped to India, where experienced bat makers dry, press and shape each one.

Each bat is graded at the factory by how its face looks: how straight and even the grains are, and how many marks or knots show. Grade is about appearance, not performance, so a lower grade bat can play every bit as well and is often the best value.

Looking after your bat

Unless a bat is listed as knocked-in, knock it in with a bat mallet over several hours before it faces a hard ball. Start gently on the face and edges and build up. It helps the bat last much longer.
